My name is Viv Slater and I run Move Well, based in Thame, Oxfordshire, OX9 3ZQ.

I’ve worked in the health and movement field for 15 years, as a private sports massage therapist, plus also in the NHS as a Health Coach and Physiotherapy Assistant. In my private therapy clinic in Thame, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, I use a blend of skills from these jobs to get people moving well.

  • I help adults and children who are experiencing aches, pains, injuries or a loss of strength, flexibility or balance. I work with you to create a plan to help you to move with ease, comfort and confidence, so that you can do the activities you enjoy.
  • I’ve helped many older adults to keep exercising and stay strong and flexible, and to maintain their balance and their confidence moving. I can help you stay active for as long as possible as you get older.
  • I’ve worked with many young sports people who hit a hitch in their movement, to keep them progressing on their athletic journeys, in competitive sports and dance.
  • I help people with conditions such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia and Hypermobility to decrease pain and develop strength, stability, flexibility and fitness in a safe, personalised way.
  • Whatever your age, I can help you to move well. 

I use the following approaches:

  • Movement assessment and coaching: I use a variety of assessment techniques to help children and adults of all ages discover why they aren’t moving so well. I help you notice any unhelpful movement habits and use a blend of skills from my private and NHS experience to help you find a way to move more comfortably and easily.
  • Sports Massage: advanced muscle release techniques and gentle joint mobilisations, plus deep tissue massage – to ease pain and discomfort, free up joints, help muscles that are overworking to calm down, and wake up muscles that are a bit sleepy.
  • Rehabilitative exercises: I assess your movement patterns and ask questions about your pain or discomfort. I work out what the injury or movement restriction is, so you can resolve the root cause of the problem. I then provide you with rehabilitative exercises to reduce pain and improve strength, flexibility and balance.
  • Exercise planning: do you want to exercise more, but can’t seem to find the time, or make it a regular routine? I can help you plan sport and activity into your life in a habitual, sustainable way.
  • I provide a friendly, approachable service that will put you at ease, whatever your age or level of activity.
  • I don’t sign you up to a package of appointments. We do the number that suits you and your goals/budget.
